28. Family holidays part two.... Hoi An

After a few wonderful days in Mui Ne we caught the night train to Da Nang, a 13 hour journey. We had soft sleeper beds, with air con, four to a compartment. Very comfy!

Amber was a bit confused where we were all sleeping....

But she slept....

We arrived about 11am then got a taxi to our hotel near Hoi An, on the beach. We had another lovely villa and our own pool...

With the beach at the bottom of the garden. It was cooler than Mui Ne and less windy....

And just as beautiful....

And then it was somebody's birthday...!

We went into town for a walk along the river front....

cocktails on a boat

And dancing...

Sunset...

And a meal with candles...!

The waterfront by night...

Oh... And we went clothes shopping!  Hoi An is a big centre for tailoring. Order one day and ready the next. This was our tailors shop...

And inside... A beautiful teak traditional merchants house...

The next day I went exploring the town to look at some of the beautiful buildings. Hoi An is a protected town, and the in the old part traffic is banned. It was a thriving port until the river silted up and Da Nang overtook it in importance.

This is the Japanese Bridge...

Some of the old merchants houses have been preserved and you can see what they would have looked like two hundred years ago when many of them they were built.

Everywhere we went people wanted to hug and kiss Amber... I don't think they see many western babies... But she was having none of it and batted people away. She did wave to everyone though in a very regal way. I'm sure when she gets home the response won't be the same!

My son has a go-pro camera. He got a following too when he flew it over the town....

And over the beach where we were staying...

Such a beautiful holiday....
